On a fundamental level the handcrafted lead and glass facade takes the form of a scaled up RGB (Red, Green, Blue) pixel array; the inherent structure found in every digital screen across our technological ecology. This pixel structure accumulates to form a pixelated circular window in ode to the rose window; the stained glass centre piece commonly found in gothic cathedrals. However, as opposed to offering the narratives and icons of spiritual faith, It instead streams the trending image searches occurring live on the internet. Whereby these images are then manipulated through a series of kaleidoscopic filters formulated from the various structural styles of stone tracery found in rose windows. The piece invites you to bask in the light of an evolving portrait of our collective digital consciousness. It hopes to help contemplate how a lower visual resolution can maybe offer a higher perceptual resolution upon our new age digital existences. Here the artist embodies a parasitic nature and slowly grows a silicon based electronic organism throughout the human-made environment. This plant-like organism survives entirely off of wasted energy emitted from the inefficiencies of a building’s energy infrastructures. It uses a series of solar panels to scavenge wasted light; it also uses Peltiers to forage wasted heat. All this harvested energy is then used to power the 50 LEDs and 4 fans embedded into the circuit boards, which represent the life and inner workings of this new category of organism. A tightly connected and unified body through which one can hyper-sensitively feel the movements of other humans. At first, the participants struggle as they have to react to each others unpredictable movements and get used to compromising control over their own body’s. However, this device soon encourages individuals to start recalibrating the way in which their brains control their bodies. It encourages individual thinking minds to start working in sync, gradually making participants move as a single-minded organism. This performance piece ultimately displays the compromising process that is recalibrating the cognitive workings of the human brain to think collectively.
